Tuesday Oct 01, 2024
The CBS vice presidential debate airs tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 9 p.m. ET and will be simulcast on Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. This election's drama has drawn boatloads of viewers to tune into some of the biggest political moments, will the same be true for the vice presidential debate? Tuesday night, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio will face one another in New York City. The two have already been launching attacks from afar on the campaign trail, with Vance accusing Walz of stolen valor and Walz calling Vance "weird." Vice presidential debates don't usually draw the same audiences as presidential debates, with the exception of 2008 when Joe Biden debated Sarah Palin, which was the most watched VP debate in history, according to Nielsen. John is the President of Take Back Action Fund who was a Bush 2000 Aide and the Only Person in US History to Run a Campaign Defeating a Majority Leader in a Primary

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) seemingly approved a deal that would"fast-track" left-wing billionaire GeorgeSoros’ acquisition of more than 200 Audacy radio stations acrossAmerica, irking a Republican commissioner who “objected."
The New York Post first reported that the FCC last week "adopted an order to approve Soros’ purchase of more than 200 radio stations in 40 markets just weeks before the presidential election," potentially allowing the far-left kingmaker to reach more than 165 million Americans at a critical time.

Dave Batt - Kids Phones at Night

The monsters keeping our children awake at night aren’t the stuff of fairy tales — they’re made of pixels and social media likes. A comprehensive study is pulling back the curtain on a troubling trend: nighttime phone use turning bedtime into a battleground for sleep and mental health. The research, conducted in Australia, reveals a troubling connection between late-night texting, cyberbullying, and psychological distress among kids as young as seven years-old.Scientists say the childhood rite of passage of staying up past bedtime has taken a dark turn in the digital age. The study, published in the journal Adolescents, analyzed data from over 53,000 Australian children between the ages of seven and 19. For many kids, “lights out” is just the beginning of their nightly online activities — and the consequences are more serious than just next-day drowsiness. One of the most striking discoveries was that about a third of primary school children (ages 7-11) and more than 60% of secondary school students (ages 12-19) reported using their phones at night at least once a week. This nighttime phone use was associated with shorter sleep duration and increased psychological distress across all age groups. But it’s not just about losing sleep. The study also found that children who experienced cyberbullying were more likely to use their phones at night and report sleep issues and psychological distress. Approximately 15% of the children surveyed had experienced cyberbullying in the past school term, with rates peaking in early adolescence. Dave is an expert in social media and mental health.
