WHAT IF TRUMP ASKS DENVER POLICE TO PARTICIPATE IN IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT?
“Absolutely not,” Johnston said. “We won’t do it.” The vast majority of law enforcement is local. Johnston is doubtful that federal forces would raid Colorado to round up immigrants, even if Trump tried to mount a national crackdown. “I do not believe that our governor is going to let them use our [Colorado] National Guard at the state level,” he said. “Unless they were planning on bringing national guards mobilized from Texas or Alabama to come invade Colorado, I don’t know where they would find the forces to begin to do that. “And that seems to me like a very, very bad idea from start to finish that no reasonable American would support,” he said. The mayor also takes heart that the people of Denver — not just the administration — would likely resist a mass deportation effort from federal forces. “More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston said. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right?” You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.” This while ICE Arrests 3 illegal immigrants in Mass.: 2 charged with child rape, 1 convicted of same crime in Brazil. Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey recently said her state would not cooperate with President-elect Trump's mass deportation plans. U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Boston announced on Wednesday the arrests of two illegal immigrants who have been charged with forcibly raping children in Massachusetts, as well as a third individual who was convicted of raping a child in Brazil, and was hiding in the U.S. after being caught and released at the U.S. border in 2022. The arrests come after Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey said her state would not cooperate with President-elect Trump’s federal immigration enforcement efforts once he returns to the Oval Office in January. ICE said one of the suspects, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was arrested for forcible rape of a child, but was released in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, by authorities, who ignored a detainer request made by the federal agency to hold or transfer him to federal custody. JEREMY ROSENTHAL takes a look at some of the legal stories making headlines in this weekly segment:
TOPIC 1- THE DAUGHTERS OF MALCOM X ARE SUING THE FBI, THE CIA AND THE NYPD FOR $100 MILLION OVER HIS 1965 ASSASSINATION.
Three daughters of Malcolm X have accused the CIA, FBI, the New York Police Department and others in a $100 million lawsuit Friday of playing roles in the 1965 assassination of the civil rights leader. In the lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court, the daughters — along with the Malcolm X estate — claimed that the agencies were aware of and were involved in the assassination plot and failed to stop the killing. At a morning news conference, attorney Ben Crump stood with family members as he described the lawsuit, saying he hoped federal and city officials would read it “and learn all the dastardly deeds that were done by their predecessors and try to right these historic wrongs.”
TOPIC 2- TEXAS HIGH COURT SAYS EXECUTION IN ‘SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME’ CASE CAN’T BE HALTED BY LAWMAKER SUBPOENA
The Texas Supreme Court on Friday ruled that a legislative subpoena cannot stop an execution after Republican and Democratic lawmakers who say Robert Roberson is innocent used the novel maneuver to pause his execution at the last minute. The ruling clears the way for Roberson’s execution to move forward, weeks after a bipartisan group of state House lawmakers bought him more time by subpoenaing Roberson as he waited to be taken to the nation’s busiest death chamber. Roberson was sentenced to death in 2003 for killing his 2-year-old daughter, Nikki Curtis. He would be the first person in the United States to be executed over a conviction tied to “shaken baby syndrome,” a diagnosis that has been questioned by some medical experts.
TOPIC 3- BRYAN KOHBERGER'S DEFENSE REVEALS ALLEGED DETAILS FROM NIGHT OF ARREST AT PARENT'S PENNSYLVANIA HOME
There are new developments in the Idaho college murders case as defense attorneys are challenging key evidence that they say was improperly obtained by police, including search warrants and DNA. New court filings from Bryan Kohberger's defense team depict a chaotic night when the former PhD student was arrested at his parent's home in the Pennsylvania Poconos. His lawyers claim that during the raid, law enforcement broke the front door of the home, shattered the sliding glass door of the basement and held the entire family at gunpoint. They also allege that while Kohberger was "zip tied at his hands and surrounded by police at gun point," he "made statements to his arresting officers," despite "not having his rights read to him."

HORRIBLE BOSSES: 75% OF EMPLOYEES HAVE EITHER LEFT A JOB OR CONSIDERED LEAVING BECAUSE OF A BAD BOSS If you have turnover, you have bad managers. Unfortunately, you likely have some bad managers: Almost 75% of employees have either left a job or considered leaving because of a bad boss, according to research from Unmind. Of course, most companies aren’t busting at the seams with bad managers. In fact, most managers are good, if not great. But one bad manager can spoil an entire team. Naturally, HR pros want to avoid promoting bad bosses. But if they make it into leadership positions, you want to either help them become better leaders or weed them out. The ideal situation is to help them become the kind of manager employees want to follow. But first HR needs to identify bad managers in their midst. But this isn’t a witch hunt. HR doesn’t want to purposefully pursue bad bosses. You want to keep an eye out for anyone who might be failing their teams. Elizabeth is a A leadership expert and author of the International bestselling book "Pick Your Path". She works with companies and organizations from coast to coast on improving employee engagement.
