AMERICANS IN THEIR 30S, 40S ARE FINALLY BREAKING THEIR WAY INTO THE 401(K) MILLIONAIRE CLUB
Americans think it’ll take $1.46 million, on average, to retire comfortably, according to a 2024 survey by Northwestern Mutual. And reaching $1 million in retirement savings is a step in the right direction. There’s good news from Fidelity in that regard, and it’s that 401(k) millionaires are on the rise due to an uptick in worker contribution rates and stock market gains. And further good news is that millennials are finally joining the 401(k) millionaire club, albeit slowly. While savers aged 28 to 43 represent fewer than 2% of 401(k) millionaires among Fidelity enrollees, the fact that some have gotten to that point is impressive. And with the right approach, you can, too. During the third quarter of 2024, Fidelity reports the number of 401(k) millionaires increased by 9.5% from the previous quarter. All told, there were 544,000 people in that category during the past quarter, compared to 497,000 in Q2. It's also worth noting that the average 401(k) balance on a whole was up 23% from a year ago. As of this past quarter, it sat at $132,300. Balances are also up among savers who have continuously funded their 401(k)s for many years. The average balance for the Gen X workers who’ve been saving in their 401(k) for 15 years in a row grew to $586,100 during the last quarter. This tells us that the average 401(k) millionaire has likely been funding their account for a considerably longer period of time. Deborah is A CPA and tax strategist // heads up Charter Accounting

Dan Snell - Inauguration Day

Monday Jan 20, 2025
President-elect Donald Trump will soon take the oath of office for the second time, returning to the White House and becoming just the second president to serve non-consecutive terms after Grover Cleveland. With the nation's 60th presidential inauguration just a few days away, here's what to know about Inauguration Day 2025. Donald Trump's presidential inauguration is scheduled to begin at noon ET. Typically, presidential inaugurations, which are planned by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, begin with a procession to the Capitol building, where the incoming president and vice president are accompanied by the heads of the outgoing administration for the swearing-in ceremony. The ceremony is followed by the new president's inaugural address, as well as a signing ceremony, where the president takes their first official actions as the country's leader. The afternoon concludes with a luncheon, a Pass in Review — where the president and vice president review military troops — and a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue. Here's the story:
My 5 year old son was assaulted by our neighbor in December, being that my son is under 10 and sustained injuries it was suppose to be a felony charge. When we reported the assault, my dad who is a retired police officer, recognized the name of our neighbor as a man he tazed in 2021 when he responded to a domestic violence call that Kamon (the neighbor) had was pouring gasoline around the house and attempting to light it on fire with his wife and children trapped inside, when my dad pulled up to the scene Kamon charged at him with an axe and was tazed. The DA’s office no-filed on this case and dropped the charges as well as his other several domestic violence charges. I was informed by the prosecutor yesterday regarding the case involving my son that since Kamon has a ‘no criminal history’ his charges were reduced to a misdemeanor for being a ‘first time offender”, and the state is offering him probation and anger management classes, which upon completion will qualify him to have his case expunged and clear his record again. The reason they’re claiming he has no criminal history despite an extensive arrest record for violent crimes, is because the DA drops his charges and no-files every time he is arrested. The prosecutor also told me that he won’t take the case to trial because the defendant, Kamon, said that my son said the ‘f word’ and that if a jury heard that they would likely side with the defendant anyway, I wanted to push for a jury and was told that I have no say in that, the prosecutor gets the final say, and that he’s already made up his mind.

For many years, community college supporters have worked to dispel the perception that their education is somehow substandard to four-year colleges and universities or a last resort for those without other options. This perspective disregards the tremendous value community college offers to people from all backgrounds and points in life, whatever their goals may be. The good news is that the tide is turning. Increasingly, students and families see community colleges as stepping stones to earning a four-year degree and accelerated pathways to employment. North Carolina Community College System officials reported a 5% statewide increase in full-time student enrollment in fall 2023. This also includes a 10% increase in workforce continuing education, 9% in basic skills, and 4% in curriculum across all 58 community colleges. During the fall 2024 semester, WCC also experienced a 15% increase in enrollment — the highest in more than 10 years.
