A container ship rammed into a major bridge in Baltimore early Tuesday, causing it to snap in a few places and plunge into the river below. Several vehicles fell into the chilly waters, and rescuers were initially searching for people.  The cargo ship appears to have crashed into one of the bridge’s supports during the middle of night when traffic would be expected to be lighter. We chat with Shelley the CEO of MySmartPlans, a certified Woman-Owned Business that works to make the construction industry more efficient. She's managed over $12 billion in construction projects and has become a leading voice for transparency in construction.

TAX SEASON: THE AVERAGE TAX REFUND IS ALMOST 29% LOWER THIS TAX SEASON, ACCORDING TO EARLY IRS DATA
With tax season in full swing, the IRS has issued more than 2.6 million refunds worth about $3.65 billion, as of Feb. 2, the agency reported last week.  So far, the average refund is $1,395, compared with $1,963 one year ago, which is roughly 29% smaller.  However, since the 2024 tax season kicked off on Jan. 29, the average refund is only based on five days, compared with 12 days from one year ago, the IRS noted Friday, saying the early statistics suggest a “strong start to filing season 2024.” We chat with Micah the Founder of Good Steward Accounting and Tax is a 12-year Fortune 500 auditing veteran who is inspiring small businesses to strategically embrace overshadowed tax opportunities to benefit from the US Tax Code //  author of "I Want You to Finance Your Life: 7 W.E.A.L.T.H.
