Science Says: Wildfires, Aging Forests Are Contributing to Climate Change
Managing Forests, Using Wood Products Deliver Sustained Climate Benefits new report by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) should question the narrative the United States is running out of old growth, and “protecting the last remaining” old growth is the only solution to combating climate change.
Research suggests forests are aging and severe wildfires and tree mortality are decreasing their ability to sequester and store more carbon. The EPA’s findings are consistent with a 2023 US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Resources Planning Act Assessment report, which also found that carbon sequestration in U.S. forests is projected to decline before shifting to a net source of carbon emissions.

AFRC is a regional trade association whose purpose is to advocate for sustained yield timber harvests on public timberlands throughout the West to enhance forest health and resistance to fire, insects, and disease. We do this by promoting active management to attain productive public forests, protect adjoining private forests, and assure community stability. We work to improve federal and state laws, regulations, policies and decisions regarding access to and management of public forest lands and protection of all forest lands.

Likely be brought up in the debate are the convictions for both Trump and Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. Both convictions is to be a hightlight of the debate. The debate will be moderated by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, and features a new set of rules to prevent some of the familiar animosity between Biden and Trump. CNN has confirmed that the campaigns of Biden and Trump have agreed to rules that have never previously been used in a debate. With this week’s summer-like weather, it’s a great time to think about heat safety for your workers. You may recall that, in 2022, Oregon adopted protections for employees exposed to excessive heat. Oregon’s heat safety rules kick in when the heat index equals or exceeds 80°F, whether you’re working outdoors or in buildings without air conditioning. · Let’s talk about what’s required at that point: o Provide shade, or alternative approved cooling methods (such as cooling vests) when access to shade is unfeasible or unsafe. o Provide cool drinking water, at least 32 ounces per hour per employee. o Limit exposure, starting with no more than 20 percent exposure for new workers. o Provide annual training, including how to recognize and respond to signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. · Additional requirements apply when the heat index reaches 90°F, including enhanced communication, an emergency response plan, and more frequent rest breaks. · While it’s not required by OSHA, consider setting up a buddy system so employees can monitor each other for signs of heat-related illness. · We have more information on staying safe in hot weather at S-A-I-F dot com slash heat.

Terry Schilling - Trump's VP Pick
Tuesday Jun 25, 2024
Tuesday Jun 25, 2024
Donald Trump’s upcoming vice-presidential pick attracts attention and speculation daily. If a new poll for The Post is any indication, it’s likely to be much ado about nothing. The poll, conducted by YouGov, asked respondents a host of questions about Trump’s possible picks. It also asked whether his selection might affect their chances of voting for Trump and what criteria they’d like the former president to consider when making his choice. Almost everyone on Trump’s list comes with either mild positives or no problematic negatives. Someone who hurts you with your base and doesn’t attract the center is not a good choice. It’s also clear that selection won’t really matter to voters anyway. Sixty-two percent said the pick would have no effect on their vote, while only 10% of respondents said the pick’s identity could make them more or less likely to vote for Trump. Presidential elections may be fought as a ticket, but ultimately voters decide to choose the person at the top. Presidential elections may be fought as a ticket, but ultimately voters decide to choose the person at the top. We chat with Terry the President of the American principles project and GOP strategist.

IS AN ‘ANTI-WOKE’ ECONOMY EMERGING?Commentary from Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson isn’t the only cash cow for right-wing media outlet the Daily Wire. The company raked in over $22 million last year from selling “woke-free” shaving gear and merchandise like a “leftist tears” dog bowl, according to Axios. Accounting for 10% of its revenue, the Daily Wire’s e-commerce business is powered mainly by its Jeremy’s Razors brand. Urging customers to “shave like a man, not a manifesto,” it was launched as a rebuke to Harry’s, which pulled ads from the Daily Wire over political disagreements in 2021. We chat with Scott Expert on branding and trust, heads up Idea Grove, a full service marketing company.
