The start of the school year looms on the horizon. Back to school sales have begun. The countdown to a new school year has begun. In some areas of the nation, children will be reporting back to school in August. In other areas, it will be after Labor Day. his time from vacation to school can be a source of significant stress and anxiety. This change from what’s familiar to unfamiliar – new faces, places, rules, and expectations – can be particularly challenging. It is a challenging time for parents. Also, many children are still hyped about the just ended some vacation, and others are glued to smartphones and other devices. The first two weeks back to school are the most challenging for children she says. We chat with Christine a Leading psychologist and author of the critically acclaimed and best-selling book, What Is It Costing You Not To Listen? and educational game, The Listening Path. Miles known as the listening guide works with schools, educational associations, and parents’ groups nationally. She has tips on how to get children to listen and motivated for the new school year.
